Parenting can be confusing.
Have you heard parents say, “Parenting doesn’t come with a hand book!”
Maybe you even have even said this yourself?
Here is a little information that has been supportive for the parents I work with and has guided me in my role as mom too.
“Do as I say not as I do” will not stop your child from WATCHING, LEARNING, and COPYING your behavior whether it is positive or negative. What they watch shapes who they become. Children and teenagers are learning and taking in information that become their reference point and tools in the present and their future.
How do you want to show up for the littles who have eyes on you?
Here is a something I live by:
Tell them
Show them
Do it with them
Do it FOR yourself
Things to consider that are being watched and learned:
🌿Eating habits
🌿Self-care routine
🌿Choices made around:
– friends
– education
– career
🌿How you talk about yourself
🌿How you talk about others
🌿The relationship you have to money
🌿Comfort level with emotions
Modeling for littles is an important concept. Walking the path that you would like them to walk supports them.
We can’t be perfect, ever – but we can strive to be the role model you want to be!
Every day I wake up and remember I am not only building the life I dream of for myself, I am laying the foundation for the eyes on me!
You got this! Who do you want to be? Be that and if that seems difficult therapy can help!
